Having no expectations is really the key to enjoying this type of travel. Go with an open mind and an empty journal. This is the kind of thing I'd have done in a heartbeat before but gets trickier with family as my wife and son aren't into sacking out in train stations and such ;-)
Maybe a mini-retirement at the Starbucks?
